The Foundations for Cosmetic Tattooing (Skin, Scars, and SMP) course is a comprehensive introduction to the art and science of cosmetic tattooing with a focus on scalp micropigmentation and scar camouflage. This course will fully prepare you to perform these treatments in a safe and professional environment, helping your clients build confidence in their physical appearance and improving their overall well-being.
In the first stage of this short course, an online component that can be completed at your own pace, you will learn the history and mechanisms of tattooing and how to identify and analyse skin and hair conditions that can benefit from cosmetic tattooing. After you have completed the online theory component, you can begin the second stage where you will gain practical hands-on experience performing these treatments under expert supervision in a 2-day workshop at the ACHW clinic.

The online part of this course is delivered through the MyACHW learning portal and is self-paced so you can complete whenever best suits you. You will learn the origins and historical significance of tattoos and be taught to articulate indications and purpose of tattooing, analyse the mechanism of tattooing and its immune system implications, and evaluate the safety, longevity, and artistry of tattooing. You will also examine tattooing in the aesthetic and medical fields and look further into its complications.
The practical part of this course is delivered over 2 days at the ACHW clinic where you will gain hands-on experience performing Cosmetic Tattooing treatments through demonstrations and supervised practice on synthetic skins and real clients:
